In the future, she hopes to work for the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), or the Jamestown Foundation, which informs and educates policy makers about other countries that are of importance to America.

"I believe that CPL is the perfect place to combine my interest in different cultures with my knowledge of politics."

- Galine Torossian,
2008 New Leaders Fellow
What do you hope to gain from participating in the New Leaders Program?
By participating in the New Leaders Program, I hope to gain work experience, as well as the opportunity to interact with other ambitious students such as myself. Through my work experience in the past four years, I have learned how important it is to be able to work well with others, particularly in an office environment. Last summer, I worked for Michigan Congressman Joe Knollenberg in DC, and I was able to write a speech that was published in the Congressional Record. I am very involved in the University of Michigan community, and am the Vice President of the Armenian Students' Cultural Association. I am also a co-chairperson for Encompass, one of the University's largest and most diverse organizations. Encompass has taught me the value of multiculturalism, and I believe that CPL is the perfect place to combine my interest in different cultures with my knowledge of politics.
