"Through the New Leaders Prgoram, I hope to gain the missing foundation I’ve been look for, which encompasses mission-driven work that will allow me to work towards being a leader and enable me to be closer to the heart of an organization."

- Winnie Glover,
2008 New Leaders Fellow
What particular experience has contributed to your desire to work with a progressive organization and participate in the NLP? What do you hope to gain from participating?
Throughout my professional experiences I have grown to understand that it is the positive impact one makes on a given community and/or person that is more valuable than any monetary reward. The highlights of my work experiences will and have always been when I was able to create programs and events, as well as introduce meaningful connections for communities and businesses to foster lasting partnerships. I wanted over time to make sure that work fit me and that my work was mission-driven. I believe that working with a progressive organization that is in partnership with the New Leaders Program would allow me to gain cross functional and general planning/training skills. This role will enable me to be in contact with leaders of communities to equip them with the knowledge and tools that will inspire leaders to reach beyond what they are capable of and achieve the unattainable for their constituents. Through this experience, I hope to gain the missing foundation I’ve been look for, which encompasses mission-driven work that will allow me to work towards being a leader and enable me to be closer to the heart of an organization. I further hope to transfer my knowledge to those who are unable to speak for themselves and become their “voice.” With the help of the New Leaders Program, I am confident I will be able to cultivate that “voice.”
