What particular experience has contributed to your desire to work with a progressive organization and participate in the NLP? What do you hope to gain from participating?
When I read about the New Leaders Fellowship Program on the Center for Progressive Leaders website, I knew it would be a great opportunity to enhance the leadership and management skills I have received through my undergraduate and graduate course work, and the internships and leadership programs I have participated in. I want to continue working with organizations that mentor young women. As an activist I have volunteered for political campaigns, contributed to progressive organizations, attended rallies and, most importantly, believed that we can move this country and the world in a better direction. As a progressive, I have the privilege and responsibility to be a productive member of society by promoting equity and opportunity for all citizens. Diversity, inclusiveness, and comprehensive planning and implementation of policies are what we need to improve the lives of our citizens and the reputation of our country. The New Leaders Fellowship program is a much needed opportunity for young progressives to learn how to affect change regarding the issues that matter most to us. I hope to enhance my leadership and management skills, learn from peers and mentors and gain a better understanding of how I can move the progressive agenda forward.
