What particular experience has contributed to your desire to work with a progressive organization and participate in the NLP? What do you hope to gain from participating?
There are two stand out experiences that have fueled my passion to work for progressive organizations. The first was when I became a tutor for the Free Library of Philadelphia. So, on one particular day, one of the boys had asked me for help with his homework. It was hard to help him because he did not have any textbooks with him, and you are supposed to bring school books with you to the library program. Thinking this was a way for him to act up or to get out of doing his work, I scolded him for not bringing books. His reply to me was that he had not forgotten his books, but his school does not let the students take home the books because there are not enough books. This situations has really made me want to be proactive in progressive organizations.
