- Julia Gainey,
2008 New Leaders Summer Intern
What are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about education as a civil right. I believe that everyone in this country does not have equal opportunities for obtaining a quality education and I would like to see this situation radically changed.

You're stranded on a deserted island. What is one book or album that you can't live without?
The Bible, because it holds me accountable to beliefs and continually helps me to grow and re-evaluate my thoughts and actions for the better. It is a text that draws me closer to God in my faith which I believe would be most important on a deserted island.

What do you hope to take away from your experience as a CPL New Leader?
I hope gain a better understanding of how I can become an advocate for Native children's education and welfare, and to gain an understanding of public policy work and how social change occurs.
