You're stranded on a deserted island. What is one book or album that you can't live without?
Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas and Billy Joel's The Stranger album.
What do you hope to take away from your experience as a CPL New Leader?
At Democracy Matters, I have worked with students and activists committed to the cause of Clean Elections despite of difficult odds and obstacles. Working here has shown me the importance of a grassroots organization and promoting progressive ideals amongst students. Our organization started out of an office seven years ago, and now has expanded to 70 campuses with hundred plus students nationwide. Progressive leaders like those I work for have transformed an idea into a movement, and I want to help a progressive organization’s cause as I have helped Democracy Matters. Furthermore, one of the most satisfying aspects of working for Democracy Matters is working with fellow students. I have learned much from them and we have shared in the same experiences. The CPL can replicate this experience as I live and learn from other progressive student learners from across the country. |
