| More about Joel |
What are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about seeing a decrease in social, economic, racial, gender, and educational inequality and empowering people with enough tools to pursue their dreams and ambitions.
What do you hope to take away from your experience as a CPL New Leader?
I am a Nigerian-American coming from a working-class family in the conservative and religious suburbs of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and am now attending a very affluent and liberal New England university. My experiences at home and at school provide me with insight into the differing senses of entitlement and restraint with respect to economic liberty and equality. In the NLP, I hope to use all of these perspectives in helping develop well-reasoned policy alternatives and approaches to advocacy. I hope to gain insight to how our anecdotes and perspectives contribute to the method by which support is garnered at the grass-roots level, as well as in the different political branches. |
