"By establishing connections we can work together to make the change that we all want is a reality."

- LaShawnda Brooks,
2008 New Leaders Summer Intern
What are you most passionate about?
My passion is working towards social justice by understanding power structures and eventually to change laws.

You're stranded on a deserted island. What is one book or album that you can't live without?
I would have to listen to Lupe Fiasco's The Cool while I'm reading Beloved by Toni Morrison.

What do you hope to take away from your experience as a CPL New Leader?
Through my experience as a CPL New Leader Intern, I hope to develop my skill for articulating my vision for social change, and to help others participate in progressive work. I aspire to learn how my areas of interests, such as Civil Rights and GLBT Equality, I have can be used for changing the world. Such as, how can I shape public policy, and how can I spread this to other communities? I hope to interact with other people interested in change, as I find that to be a huge motivation. By establishing connections we can work together to make the change that we all with was reality.
