2009 New Leaders Fellows

Noor Higley

Noor Higley

Hometown: Fullerton, California

Age: 22

Placement: Intern in the Office of Rep. Loretta Sanchez

"CPL is a great place to learn about the diverse faces of social change and be inspired. As a New Leaders Fellow, I do not only recognize that international events strongly affect domestic issues, I look forward to developing the skills needed to address and mobilize others around issues that impact real individuals, communities and nations."

Noor graduated in May 2008 with a B.A. in English and minors in Art and Political Science from California State University of Fullerton. Although she was born in California , Noor spent twelve years of her life in Amman, Jordan. Noor is passionate about achieving constructive social change and raising the voice of underrepresented communities that suffer from an injustice. She is also interested in the role of art in political movements, human rights, labor, environment, healthcare and media reform issues. She is currently interning in Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez’s office, in addition to taking macroeconomics and microeconomics classes as prerequisites for a possible Master’s degree in International Affairs.
