Vaishalee Yeldandi

Vaishalee Yeldandi

Hometown: Chicago, IL

Age: 24

Placement: Intern at the Center for Progressive Leadership

"I am most passionate about the protection of civil rights—especially religious freedom. The ability to practice any religion or none at all is a vital part of what makes the United States an example of liberty and freedom throughout the world. "

Vaishalee was raised in a family that has been committed to social justice for generations. She first entered the world of progressive politics when she had the opportunity to intern at Americans United for Separation of Church and State in the field department. After graduating from Cornell University with a Bachelor's degree in Government, Vaishalee returned to Americans United to work in the development and executive department.

While living in Washington, DC, she has become involved with the Women’s Information Network and also enjoys volunteering at the Pediatric ICU at Georgetown University Hospital. Vaishalee is most committed to equality and social justice issues relating to civil rights and women’s health. Vaishalee also has her Masters degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University.
